The Kitchen Table Dilemma

Husband and I are officially homeowners. And it is awesome.

We signed our lives away on Monday and have been SLOWLY moving things into the new place ever since. We decided to put off actually moving in until this weekend, mostly because we work all day and don't want to force people to assist with the move until the weekend.

So I've been living with my three favorite Minneapolis boys this past week. Tonight is our last official night in the house on Emerson. Oh how I will miss it and its delightfully heated floors.

So far, we've unpacked pretty much everything we have that could be moved in our cars (which I've learned we can fit a suprising amount of stuff into) and put as much of it away as we could. So yesterday, after we decided we couldn't move much else to the new place without the help of good ol' Uhaul (hate hate hate), we decided to handle the furniture - get it ordered and move right along on our merry way. The plan was to order it (we had already selected what we wanted, just had to actually buy it) and have it delivered on Saturday.

I should know better than to plan.

Husband is a genious and decided to measure a few key areas in the house. Good thing he did- the kitchen table we wanted was going to be too freakin' big.

You've got to be kidding me.

So we set off to the furniture store in a horrible mood with low hopes of finding another table we liked. Because we loved the one that won't fit. Damn. So we looked at few places, decided we didn't really like anything, and went home.

Well, before we went home, we dropped some serious cash at the worst-layed out Target ever... but that is a story in and of itself.

So the search continues for the perfect kitchen table. Which we won't really use unless we have people over because we are TV watchers while we eat. We talk enough in the car everyday, no need for formal dinners.

Wish us luck. Or, better yet, send suggestions as to where we can find a mini 36" table. Because thats really all we need or want at this point.

Loves.

Packing

Husband and I are movin' into new digs this weekend. While I'm so excited to move - lets just say the packing process isn't my favorite.

Most of my things are in storage, so I didn't have much to pack at Husband's house (where I have been squatting for the past few months, as our leases didn't end at the same time). I took out my biggest suitcase and shoved all my clothes that weren't on hangers into it, grabbed a tote bag and threw all of my bathroom stuff into it, and presto doneo!

Husband's packing.. not so easy. Not that he has lots o' stuff... but I just hate packing.

When I moved in, I emptied a huge blue tub.  I left it empty for husband to pack when the time came. Now that the time has come - I told him to use the blue tub before anything else - thinking that we have to take it anyway. The tub was still empty after I put together a few boxes, and those boxes got filled with goodies. Grrr. Now the stupid tub is filled with randomness that I will no doubt have to sort through and empty.

Packing organization isn't one of Husband's strong points. I like to label, he doesn't.

Oh well.

The big move begins Thursday after 6:00 pm (when Mr. & Mrs. Seller have to be outta their house for us to mooove on it).

Our schedule is as follows :

Thursday:
-Close on house
-Work
-Bring one load of stuff to the house (cannot waste a trip), along with cleaning supplies
-Scrub new house from top to bottom while empty

Friday:
-Wake up early
-Change name @ SS office & DMV (can't waste a day off!)
-Move all boxes and tubs and furniture light enough for just husband and I to lift..
-Begin to unpack.. get as much done as possible

Saturday:
-Wake up early
-Continue to unpack
-Wave goodbye to husband as he and his big strong friends leave to load up all our heavy furniture.
-Continue to unpack while keeping things organized and out of the way for big strong boys & their furniture.
-Wave hello as husband and crew move all of our furniture into the house..
-Order pizza, buy beer for big strong men as a thank you
-Unpack more

Sunday:
-Wake up early
-Finish any unpacking necessary
-Actually go to HOM furniture to order new end table/coffee table/hutch; set up delivery for kitchen table/patio set/all new stuff for sometime during the week
-Help husband pack for ANOTHER business trip (worst 2 weeks to travel ever)
-Go shopping to buy new things for house/grocery shopping/Katie time!
-Stay out of the house while husband mounts huge TV to wall (don't want to be there for that) and keep fingers crossed all goes as planned.

Ahhh the joys of moving. Just keep your fingers crossed that the U-haul key doesn't get lost or something crazy. Because its very frustrating when that happens, even if the key man who comes to rescue you has an adorable doggie to play with.

After Sunday :
-Decorate new place.
-Commense mentioning getting a dog every day until it happens.....

The Wedding!

Hi All,

Sorry I haven't been on here in awhile, but I've been a wee bit busy (gettin' hitched and all).

It was an awesome wedding. When now-husband and I started planning the wedding, I asked him what was important to him. We each said the same thing : the wedding needed to have good food, good music, and booze. We really just wanted to throw a rockin' party. It was really important to us to have a big bash with all of our family and friends - especially because we don't get to see all of them all the time.

It was a really relaxed day. I woke up really early to make sure I had time to shower and get all my things ready for the day, I didn't want to have to rush. Plus there were lots of people at my house, so I wanted to ensure I had enough bathroom time! Those brothers... they sure do like to take their time! :) After I made sure I had everything together, I headed downstairs and made some breakfast for the family. It started off just for me.. but then my mom came into the kitchen and my dad too. I wanted to make sure they both had a good breakfast because I wasn't sure when they would have time to eat during the day. It was a nice way to start the morning :)

Getting ready was a straight blasty. It was exactly what I wanted. All the girls headed to the salon and we all arrived there around 9:00 am-ish. My mom arranged for food to arrive right around then too. One of her fabulous friends brought us yummy bagels and wraps (thanks Mrs. Malecki!!). It was great just to sit around and chat with the girls, especially because I don't get to see some of them very often at all! My cousin Rachelle also came to the salon and did all of our make-up for the day. I tell you what, that woman is a champ. Check out all of our faces... we are all such babes! (Not that we aren't anyways!) In the middle of her make-up marathon, we made her take a break so she could get her hair done for the big day too!

My matron of honor, Ann, made sure the day started off right with Momosas. Mine was, of course, in a crazy-colored sippy cup. Lets just say that for whatever reason, I just love me a sippy cup - I know, so juvenile (but lets be honest, you love them too...).

After we were all done up, we headed to the church, where I obviously got distracted with helping the girls get dressed. I was so excited to see them in their dresses! Since we all live in different places, they had picked out their dresses in their own towns, so I hadn't seen all of them in their dresses! It was so fun to see the different styles they picked out, even though a lot of them were really similar! Some of the girls altered their dresses to make them exactly what they wanted, whether it be shortening them to make them tea-length or adding a strap to make it a halter dress. They all looked sooo good in the green color too - it was so different and bright! I LOVED IT!

When it came time to put my dress on.. I had to go searching for my mother. She is such a little social butterfly, she had left the room we were getting ready in to go greet the guests (I wasn't shocked at all). And I couldn't go find her because the boys arrived before the girls did (I was shocked too... they were early and we were late! Ha!), so husband was around and I didn't want to chance it. It took a few cousins and groomsmen to find her and make sure she got back to our room before it was too late! I didn't want to get dressed without her, but at the same time, I didn't want to be late!

It was so great to have all the girlies around, just us. I have to tell you though, every time I see them, I just miss them more and more!

The actual wedding was beautiful. I asked my childhood priest to marry us, and he did a fantastic job. The man loves himself some props during his homilies, and my family and I talked for months about what the prop was going to be for the wedding. (I thought it was going to be a crybaby ... I was a bit of a whiner as a kid... a challenge child, as I like to tell my parents..) He made himself a make-shift see-saw on the altar. It was awesome. Turns out... Neil and I need to make sure we keep balance in our relationship... good advice :)

Anywho... so husband and I said our vows - and I didn't studder or say his name where I should have been saying mine... whew! I thought I would be so so nervous walking down the aisle and saying my vows in front of so many people (little bit of stage fright over here people), but it really wasn't bad at all. I was so relaxed all day I even surprised myself!

More on the reception, brunch, and honeymoon in other entries! <3
