Hi All,
Sorry I haven't been on here in awhile, but I've been a wee bit busy (gettin' hitched and all).
It was an awesome wedding. When now-husband and I started planning the wedding, I asked him what was important to him. We each said the same thing : the wedding needed to have good food, good music, and booze. We really just wanted to throw a rockin' party. It was really important to us to have a big bash with all of our family and friends - especially because we don't get to see all of them all the time.
It was a really relaxed day. I woke up really early to make sure I had time to shower and get all my things ready for the day, I didn't want to have to rush. Plus there were lots of people at my house, so I wanted to ensure I had enough bathroom time! Those brothers... they sure do like to take their time! :) After I made sure I had everything together, I headed downstairs and made some breakfast for the family. It started off just for me.. but then my mom came into the kitchen and my dad too. I wanted to make sure they both had a good breakfast because I wasn't sure when they would have time to eat during the day. It was a nice way to start the morning :)
Getting ready was a straight blasty. It was exactly what I wanted. All the girls headed to the salon and we all arrived there around 9:00 am-ish. My mom arranged for food to arrive right around then too. One of her fabulous friends brought us yummy bagels and wraps (thanks Mrs. Malecki!!). It was great just to sit around and chat with the girls, especially because I don't get to see some of them very often at all! My cousin Rachelle also came to the salon and did all of our make-up for the day. I tell you what, that woman is a champ. Check out all of our faces... we are all such babes! (Not that we aren't anyways!) In the middle of her make-up marathon, we made her take a break so she could get her hair done for the big day too!
My matron of honor, Ann, made sure the day started off right with Momosas. Mine was, of course, in a crazy-colored sippy cup. Lets just say that for whatever reason, I just love me a sippy cup - I know, so juvenile (but lets be honest, you love them too...).
After we were all done up, we headed to the church, where I obviously got distracted with helping the girls get dressed. I was so excited to see them in their dresses! Since we all live in different places, they had picked out their dresses in their own towns, so I hadn't seen all of them in their dresses! It was so fun to see the different styles they picked out, even though a lot of them were really similar! Some of the girls altered their dresses to make them exactly what they wanted, whether it be shortening them to make them tea-length or adding a strap to make it a halter dress. They all looked sooo good in the green color too - it was so different and bright! I LOVED IT!
When it came time to put my dress on.. I had to go searching for my mother. She is such a little social butterfly, she had left the room we were getting ready in to go greet the guests (I wasn't shocked at all). And I couldn't go find her because the boys arrived before the girls did (I was shocked too... they were early and we were late! Ha!), so husband was around and I didn't want to chance it. It took a few cousins and groomsmen to find her and make sure she got back to our room before it was too late! I didn't want to get dressed without her, but at the same time, I didn't want to be late!
It was so great to have all the girlies around, just us. I have to tell you though, every time I see them, I just miss them more and more!
The actual wedding was beautiful. I asked my childhood priest to marry us, and he did a fantastic job. The man loves himself some props during his homilies, and my family and I talked for months about what the prop was going to be for the wedding. (I thought it was going to be a crybaby ... I was a bit of a whiner as a kid... a challenge child, as I like to tell my parents..) He made himself a make-shift see-saw on the altar. It was awesome. Turns out... Neil and I need to make sure we keep balance in our relationship... good advice :)
Anywho... so husband and I said our vows - and I didn't studder or say his name where I should have been saying mine... whew! I thought I would be so so nervous walking down the aisle and saying my vows in front of so many people (little bit of stage fright over here people), but it really wasn't bad at all. I was so relaxed all day I even surprised myself!
More on the reception, brunch, and honeymoon in other entries! <3
