This Blogging Thang...

All Right, so I've been doing the blogging thing for a bit now.. more seriously for the past few weeks.

I read quite a few blogs, but I've noticed that those blogs have a lot more followers than mine does.

Am I doing something wrong?

Whats your input?

  1. You're not doing anything wrong, just keep on blogging for you. And read and comment on other blogs and you will start getting more and more followers.:)

  2. It takes a while to build followers, trust me. You aren't doing anything wrong! My Google Analytics tells me that I have something like 125 followers, but the only ones you can see are the 70 or so that are Blogger followers. Sign up with Google Analytics, it'll make you feel better! =)

  3. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I TOTALLY feel you on the whole "why isn't anyone reading/commenting/following" thing. I'm up to like 25 followers right now, but I remember a time (not too long ago) when I was super excited to have 3 followers! :) Like Lindsey said above, I think the best thing to do is keep being yourself and also read other blogs & comment on them. So many people stumble across my blog because they read a comment I wrote on another blogger's site and then they stick around for a while and become a follower! Best of luck!

  4. No you certainly aren't doing anything wrong. Most of the bloggers that have 100+ followers have been blogging for quite some time - 6 months or more. It takes a while to build a following. Just keep reading blogs that you like and make comments if you read something that you enjoy. As you get to know more people in the blogging community, more people will come and visit your blog and begin to follow you as well.

Don't be discouraged. You have some great stuff going on here. :)

  5. When I first started my blog I was obsessed with gaining followers. I tweaked my content & tried dreaming up grand blog ideas. I used to literally have dreams about blog content. I was always discouraged by how few followers I had. Then I just let it go. I realized that those who do follow me are quality bloggers and friends. They are sweet & encouraging and more than enough. I started writing for me, just writing about what I wanted to say, and I started to gather more followers. You are my latest. :)

Also, commenting on blogs doesn't hurt any. ;)

  6. I've been blogging for quite some time, and it just takes awhile! I look now and see some people get 40 comments per post where I, at most, will get around 10. Commenting on other blogs always helps, and just browse around and look for blogs that really relate to what your blogs about :)
