Being the crazy people we are, we decided to leave right after work yesterday and drive through the night. It sounded like a great idea- we knew we would hit some traffic in Mpls (and boy did we!!), but we also knew that we would avoid most traffic in Chi-town by driving through it around midnight. Plus we would just be here on Friday... so we could spend as much time with our families as possible, which makes the rediculously long drive oh so worth it!
Remind me next time we do this that I might need more than 2 Sugar Free Red Bulls to make this trip a success!! Neil drove the first leg of the trip, and we traded right before we hit Chicago when we stopped for gas. He promptly passed out and I sang my way through every pop song I could find on the radio in order to stay awake and not talk Neil's ear off while he was trying to sleep. Successful with that, but the trip was awfully boring... and they play the same four f'in songs on each pop radio station over.. and over.. and over... and over. Excellent for perfecting the words to each song... horrible for 12 hrs. in a car driving fast and avoiding cops. I really need to learn to like talk radio more and stupid pop music less...
Anywho... the drive was a looooooong drive... with a little bickering (although not a ton!!) and some quick naps, but mostly driving. It will be so worth it though, to be able to spend some time with almost ALL!! of our family and friends!!
Tomorrow is my bridal shower, and I have to tell you... I am SOOO EXCITED to see everyone - it will be so great. All of my bridesmaids will be there - some who I haven't seen for a few months! - and almost all of the ladies from both my family and Neil's family will be joining us as well! Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to have a wonderful family and to be marrying into an incredible family too!
After the shower I'm having a little thing I (as everyone else does too) like to call a bachelorette party... I'm not 100% whats in store since Jessice (maid of honor) and Annie (matron of honor) have planned the shindig, but I do know it will be SO AWESOME to see all my ladies and just have a girls night. I miss those ladies more than I can express in this silly pink blog!
Well when we finally arrived at my parent's house @ 5 am I thought nothing sounded better than sleep.. but here I sit.. awake at 9 am... hanging out with Timber the beagle. What is my problemmmmm.......
Ah well! More later guys!
